The state flexes about helping families, but the fine print says twelve weeks is all you get and, no, it will not cover recovery, emergencies, or kids who inevitably get sick right after all the leave is gone. Job security sounds nice but in practice it means whatever HR decides this week.

Parents in America keep stitching together time off, doubling up on stress, and discovering that "benefits" are just another name for what already belonged to them. Forced to burn through PTO, then told it is a bonus, working parents get served leftovers and are expected to be grateful. This is not a perk. It is a sneaky little tax on family life.
